The Bitfocus Companion software is used as a helpful tool to control various hardware used in the Highlands production environment. It is software that runs on the Utility computer and allows the Stream Deck to be used as a control surface to control production devices. The devices we currently control with Companion are:
- Haivision ConnectDVR/DisplayEngine
- AJA Kumo Video Router
- GrassValley Summit K2
- Renewed Vision ProPresenter
These interactions are extensively tested in our production environments, but we still require knowledge of the devices that are controlled in case the computer powering Companion were to fail in some way or the application stops responding correctly.
¶ Basic Layout
At a portable campus, the basic layout of the main page of the Stream Deck is comprised of:
- Kumo controls for routing audio to FOH Audio.
- Kumo controls for routing video to video preview screen to monitor audio and video output of certain devices, such as the K2 or Graphics machines.
- ConnectDVR controls for controlling the DisplayEngine output.
- ProPresenter controls for displaying status indicators to stage for if campus is ready to go live.
