Good transitions help those in the audience feel safe and comfortable, while making a consistent atmosphere between campuses. Transitions are one of the most important parts of what we do in a live production environment. In this section, we'll cover each critical transition and the correct graphics that we use during each moment of a typical service flow.
The following is a standard service flow that shows the graphics used. Graphic background or colors may be different; however, the contents (logos and text), should remain the same. This flow goes from preservice all the way to dismissal.
The following examples are presented as the main focal screen. Campuses with multiple screens, such as banner or LED walls, may have additional graphics for those screens, which will not be covered below. However, the principals and graphics below still apply to those campuses.
Preservice graphics are those used before the service begins.
Announcements are a single video loop given by Central to campuses.
The announcement video is updated weekly.
The video pre-roll begins promptly at five minutes before service.
During worship, we use moving video backgrounds, which we reference as “jump backs” due the fact the videos loop back to the beginning.
During welcome moment, a campus pastor typically comes on stage. During this time, moving video jump backs are transitioned to a still image of the jump back.
During meet and greet, we use a graphic annual (not series) artwork.
Sometimes, a CP may return the stage for a time after M&G. During that time, the annual blank graphic should be shown. The blank graphic contains no text or logos.
The Highlands News portion of the service is typically streamed from the broadcast location to campuses, but it's always good to have a backup loaded and ready to go.
For the message content, the lighting look should always be congo.
The message portion of the service is typically streamed from the broadcast location to campuses.
The closing begins when a campus takes their service back from the video feed.
During the salvation prayer moment, the saved graphic should be shown from the series artwork (not annual).
During any closing announcements, a blank slide should be shown on screen unless directed otherwise by CP.
Once a CP begins talking about offering, the "Ways to Give" (WTG) slide should be shown. This slide should remain up until the offering prayer begins.
During the offering prayer, the blank graphic should be returned to. The reason we show the graphic, as opposed to keeping WTG up or going to the offering look, is to prevent distractions during the prayer (jump back) and the ensure that no text is transitioned below song lyrics (WTG).
As soon as the offering prayer ends, the transition to the offering look should begin, consisting of a moving jump back.
Dismissal is the time immediately following the dismissal of service, typically by a CP or WL. Dismissal continues until the band crashes out and FOH plays the Highlands Pre-service Playlist.
During dismissal, the moving jump back should remain moving on screen.
Sometimes a service may end outside of a song, such as First Wednesday or if dismissed from Broadcast. In those cases, you should use the Annual Artwork Logo.
After the band crashes out, the Highlands Pre-service Announcements should be started.
